OKAY HERES THE LETTER I GOT FROM NEIL:

Greetings Brain Explorers!
Now that the season of gift giving is upon us--and most of us are brokethe question becomes, how do I generously give happiness during theholidays? That, of course, is what we should be thinking about, rather thanstuffing our stockings with gobs of junk, that we are beingconditioned to buy out of sheer commercially produced guilt and lust.I suggest a THREE STEP approach to intelligent Holiday Glee for all:Step One: Get your perspective straight:I was listening to BBC news last night, and heard a story about anAfrican family- They had to walk four miles a day, to get a gallon ofwater, and that gallon cost them one-half of their daily income.
Years ago I was in the bathtub, and reflecting upon the reality ofjust being able to turn on the tap and get unlimited hot water forpractically nothing- and how I was living in a manner that not evenkings could afford in ancient times, and how such a simple thing istaken completely for granted these days.Tell Madison Avenue to take a hike. This way, you spend what you have, not what you've been brainwashed to think you have to get.
Step Two: Avoid the Empty Greed Grab:I heard another story on talk radio yesterday as well- B. Obama wasbuying a ring for his wife made of a precious metal-- the cost wassomething like $30,000. So, if you've got it, flaunt it, right?Wrong. Wow, what a crappy signal this would send to those of us whocan only afford a ring around our bathtub, eh?It's not about PRICE- it's all about DEPTH of Connection. It's notabout HOW MUCH you spend, it's about HOW you spend. The energy of the personality of the merchant is embedded in what youget and share.

That's where the real VALUE and VIRTUE is.I say, spend money with people you know, people who regularly sharetheir life with you. Exchange green energy with folk who give you morethan just superficial glitter. It's the difference between grabbing a handy fast food bull-only(baloney) Happy Meal- which will ultimately leave you hungry-- or justas easily opting for a Quality Meal that really makes you and yourdinner guests happy. Not just bubble gum, but more yummy whole food.
Step Three: Stick With Active Growing Yeast Yields-Remember when you were a kid, and you got a toy you really wanted, andthen when you finally got it, you got bored in one day?The best things to share and give are those things that don't get old, things you can talk about, things you can mull over, things that makeyou think, things you can use daily, things that last a lifetime, things you can pass along.Smart things are the best.Shop smart- Be happy! :-)

******************************TURNING JAPANESE For those movie fans out there, I've been getting quite acquaintedwith Japanese cinema lately. In America, you don't hear very muchabout films from this part of the world. After watching a lot ofJapanese film, my impression is that this is because it moves at adistinctly different pace than popular US cinema- which by comparisongoes a breakneak speed. Many, if not most Americans just have a short attention span, and theydon't appreciate beautiful photographic composition and subtle storyline. If you don't hit the American viewer with a sledge hammer overthe head- they miss it.And they miss a lot.So-- here's a few recommendations to get you going... I don'tguarantee you'll like these films-- but I sure did (and so has myHollywood screenwriting buddy Jim Mullica, who really is a filmexpert).
